Work Experience provides students with opportunities to apply classroom learning to the world of work. Students learn new skills and gain valuable career experiences that go beyond what students learn in school. Work Experience prepares students for the transition from secondary school to post-secondary education and employment.
In order to enroll in WEX 12a or WEX 12b you will need to:

- "Intent to Complete" (Paper copy handed in to the Career Center)
- Go to wex.sd23.bc.ca and complete the online registration.
- Parent/Guardian Consent during COVID-19 (Paper copy must be handed in to the Career Center)
- Discuss the Safety Orientation with Mr. Meraw.
- Have a conversation with Mr. Meraw about what your current career plans are and how your work experiences will help prepare you for those plans. The discussion will include both transferable skills and specific skills that you are learning.
- You will need to verify you have worked more than 100 hours. You can do this by saving your pay stubs, work schedule or having your employer write a letter confirming your hours worked.
- Complete the Safety Orientation form with a supervisor at work and hand it in to the Career Center.
- Track your work hours. You must be able to verify at least 100 hours worked. You can do this using pay-stubs, evidence of shifts worked, or a letter from your employer.
- Have a conversation with Mr. Meraw about what you've learned through this work experience.
